Meet our team at Kuda
is the Managing Director of Kuda Sport Horse insurance. As such she is very involved in all aspects of the business from marketing to the administration of the various sport horse products. Dawn has been a part of the Kuda team since the inception of the company and her financial background together with a keen interest in equestrian sport has made this an ideal fit. She has been involved in riding from a very young age, and has been working in Financial Management and Accounts for much of her professional life. She is currently a National Riding Showing Judge as well as a Provincial C Panel Dressage judge and has officiated at various South African National Showing events. She currently competes in dressage on her two Hanoverian geldings, Callaho Fidelio and Callaho Rinaldo and has represented WP on both the dressage and showing teams many times over the past decade.
Lilian is the Claims Manager and is responsible for Sport Horse, Racehorse and Game related claims. Having previously worked at an Underwriting Management company, Lilian joined Kuda in 2013 in the Admin Department and progressed to Claims Manager. Coming from a horse riding background Lilian understands the implications for owners when a claim arises and therefore takes pride in resolving claims as quickly as possible. Her compassion and work ethic allows her to be able to assist and support clients when they need it most, at claim time.
Kimberley is the Sport & Racehorse Product Administrator. She has been riding since the age of 12, competes her horse in local shows and has a good understanding of the riding disciplines as well as equine health. Kimberley is responsible for Policy amendments, quotations, invoices, renewals and all client queries. She is attentive to detail and very knowledgeable of the equine industry.
Lara grew up riding horses in the Cape from a young age. She represented Western Proving for Show-jumping as a Child, Junior and adult multiple times. She has won the WP adult Showjumping Championships, the 1m35 mini prix series, the Pretoria 1m50 Grand Prix and the Midrand World Cup Qualifier to name a few achievements. In 2009 she made the move to Johannesburg, where she now lives with her Husband, Gareth and her son, Matthew and daughter, Emily. Lara is also the proud owner of Equestrian Affair boutique equestrian shop in Cape Town and has recently opened a new Johannesburg store in Kyalami. She currently competes 3 horses in the Showjumping arenas around the country, Delmon Mining & Civils Opium du Sauge, Delmon Mining & Civils Grafitti and Alzu Opportunity.
Kerry works and lives in Glenferness, riding and teaching from her private livery yard where dressage is her passion. Currently competing on her home bred 6 year old Kuda’s Habanera at Elementary level and has produced and ridden her now retired Shillelagh Cool Customer to Prix St George. With IMM and IISA qualifications, she has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry, having spent many years in the corporate world, is now concentrating on her equestrian passions.
Lives in White River, Mpumalanga, where she is developing a small, private equestrian estate. Her passion is to work with young horses and she has backed and produced many youngsters for dressage, show jumping, eventing and endurance. She competes mostly in dressage and her current competition horse is a 6yo Lusitano X Warmblood mare, called Legacy’s Soraya. Her dad was a game ranger in the Kruger National Park, and that is where she grew up, and luckily enough with horses too! Her goal is to grow every aspect of equestrian sport and horsemanship in Mpumalanga, and working with Kuda Insurance, serving on the Lowveld Equestrian Club Committee and working with horses and riders on a daily basis will certainly help her to reach this goal.
Jodi resides in Drummond, Kwa – Zulu Natal. She grew up on horseback owning her own pony at 4 years old. She went on to represent her province on numerous occasions in children, juniors and adults. Some of her major wins include the Adult Show Jumping Championships of South Africa, two individual world cup titles as well as being victor of the overall RSA World Cup Series in 2012. She currently competes on the national circuit with her five open horses as well as coaching full time. In addition, Jodi has a BCOMM degree majoring in economics and finance as well as an honours degree in business finance. When Jodi is not in the arena she is taking part in road running events, triathlons and recently got back from summiting Mount Kilimanjaro. She is very excited to be part of the Kuda team!!
Lisa recently moved to her fiance’s family farm in Paarl, which is also the home of the Elkasun Arabian Stud. She has been involved with horses, mainly Arabs, for most of her life and is currently actively involved with the day to day activity on the stud. Endurance riding was her first love but she has recently become involved in the glamorous Arab showing discipline. Lisa is passionate about the breed and strives to promote the Arabian horse wherever and whenever she can. Lisa is very proud to be a part of the dynamic Kuda team where she will specifically focus on the Arab horse market.

Mark is an integral part of the Mike Bass Racing team, and has gained invaluable experience working under his father, famous trainer Mike Bass. He specialises in marketing, website maintenance and sponsorship. Mark has been integral in the design of Mike Bass Racing’s popular website and more recently the upgrade of the Equimark Equestrian website as well as various other industry websites.
Candice works full time for Mike Bass Racing in partnership with the family. She has grown up in a racing family so horses have always been part of her life. In her leisure time she also rides, she has a Dutch warmblood who she competes in dressage. She is very passionate about her riding and loves every minute of it.
